Just like Chris changed his name to Alex Supertramp - what would your new name be and why?
3 - How important are parent/child relationships and what happens if this is not fostered?

Into The Wild - Chapters 1 and 2
Hello Students!
Today we will begin our Into the Wild Journals. Please answer the prompt(s).
We will then look at the claims.
We will read Chapters 1 and 2. Please have these read for tomorrow.
QW:
1) Think about your experience hiking, backpacking, and/or existing in the wild. What are the benefits of any one of these activities?
2) Think about some alternative plans you might have to beginning college immediately after high school. What might you do? Why would you do it, and for how long could you see yourself doing that activity?
3) Think about an experience you have had when you were alone and made some misjudgments that could have led to disaster, but didn't. What miscalculations did you make and how did you avoid disaster?
Possible Claims:
1) Chris' idealism lead to his death.
2) Chris made choices that were foolish.
3) Chris genuinely loved the outdoors and wanted to live without the trappings of society.
4) Chris risked his life, no matter the cost, to find out who he was and that should be valued.

I am so glad to be back with you! This is YOUR graduation year!
There is a lot to be excited about and there is still a lot to accomplish now and in the upcoming months. Have no doubts that you will be given tons of support and many opportunities to read, write, learn, explore, and participate.
Get out of your comfort zone - now is the time to take some risks!
Please be present each day and keep up on your reading, writing, and related assignments.
Our semester closes in three weeks - with smart choices and an authentic work ethic you can make the needed decisions to end the semester with a grade that best represents your growth and effort. Please take advantage of all opportunities and projects.
If you are concerned about your semester grade - please be sure to make an appointment (see Office Hours) to talk with me. Your last minute concerns cannot be my concerns. Advocate for yourself.
